Building combat robots can be dangerous. The robots themselves, particularly those with spinning kinetic energy storing weapons, are extremely destructive and powerful. They tend to easily lose control or experience rapid unscheduled disassembly, both in testing and during a fight. The best way to prevent injury or death is to always safely test robots that have spinning weapons inside an enclosure which completely eliminates a direct line of sight between the robot's spinning weapon, and any nearby soft fleshy humans. There are other ways to test safely, but a test box or arena is generally accepted as the safest. You can build this box for under $80 USD, which I am told is a lot less than the medical bills to replace a missing finger or eyeball.

I am not claiming that my particular test box design is the 'best' or only solution that provides this level of safety, but having used it for over a year with robots that store as much kinetic energy as a fired 357 magnum round, and having said robots ram their spinners full force into the floor, walls and ceiling many times, I'm confident it will keep me safe.

Given the recent rash of unsafe testing videos, and the fact that my last safety video was uploaded over a year ago to just 100 or so subscribers, I feel this topic is in need of a redux.
