Notes: This is a LOTAD (low-optimised TAS) but no luck manipulation is needed. ^^ Unfortunately I could not locate a 0x76 upon loading the save (in another run you might manip it into the Trainer ID, as that's in the expanded inventory), so took a creative liberty.

This glitch requires timed scrolling to use https://glitchcity.wiki/Party_scrolling_memory_corruption on Pokémon 230 to adjust your third name character from lowercase w to small ぉ. This will keep increasing by 0x40, so you have to choose switch on it at just the right time. On a non-LOTAD run, you'd probably close the menu to see if you got the name, then quickly mash A to bring the sub-menu up without it changing to character 0xB6 again? After confident you have the name and have selected Pokémon 230 move up quickly but don't actually swap it, until you get to Pokémon 186 (warning: it seems slow movement can mess up what position you're on in the party?).

On Pokémon 186, switch that to Pokémon 1. It will move your name slot 3 (0x76) to the lower Pokémon 1 max HP byte.

Next, swap Pokémon 1 with Pokémon 11; and if you did it right (note it's easy to mess up), you will now have glitch item 0x76 in inventory slot 21.

Next, swap Pokémon 88 (note: hex:58) with Pokémon 180 (hex:B4). This moves C089 and C08A (probably part of the sound data) which should read 7F 00 to D059 and D05A. This secures an instant encounter when you close the menu which doesn't have the automatic selection effect.

If you do not have the expanded inventory, swap Pokémon 1 with Pokémon 2 (if it is not hidden) to hide Pokémon 1 and avert getting what may be the 0 max HP freeze. Now, swap the new Pokémon 1 with Pokémon 10.

Close the menu and a MissingNo. 7F battle should start. Open the items menu and locate item 0x76 (in slot 21). Swap slot 21 with slot 33 (current map). Run away, and hopefully you'll be at the Hall of Fame.

I planned to do this without using the expanded inventory at all (which I'm sure is likely possible maybe it has been done before, and is definitely possible in the Japanese version which I have a video of here: youtube.com/watch?v=nFbOld6leXw , although it uses a luck manip) but settled for now. Maybe later we can find a way.
