Tips for applying oil based Gleam spar varnish.
Punch 4–5 holes around the rim of the can with an awl or nail so excess finish drains back into the can instead of building up on the rim.
Pour only what you need into a separate working container—keep the main can as clean as possible.
Spray a little Bloxygen into the can before sealing it to protect the finish between uses.
Apply the finish with a foam roller, then immediately brush in the direction of the wood grain using a natural-bristle brush designed for oil-based finishes.
