Watch the seamless transformation of the Shell Book Pavilion, a kinetic architectural intervention by LUO studio that breathes life into Beijing’s Shine Hills.

The video captures the rhythmic opening and closing of the pavilion’s aerospace-grade aluminum roof—a vertical mechanical system that allows the structure to shift from a quiet, introverted shell to an expansive public stage. We see how the internal wooden core provides a tactile, intimate space for reading, while the modular seating encourages children and residents to treat the plaza as their own living room.

Built in just 20 days, this micro-library proves that architecture doesn't have to be static to be permanent. Its 360-degree presence ensures that whether fully open or partially closed, it remains a focal point for spontaneous community encounters.
