For best results view at 1080p60fps. Alright here we are. An introduction into how sound and music work on the Sega Genesis aka Mega Drive aka other stuff. In this video I explain what the YM2612 is, give you a broad overview of what it does, and talk about its special modes. I also cover the SN76489 and do the same. This is sort of part 0 in an upcoming series of tutorials on creating Genesis music in Deflemask.
Future parts will be released... every now and then. There will be no set schedule, sorry. But the next part will definitely be out some time in January 2022 unless I die before then or something. In which case, you're out of luck.

For best results view at 1080p60fps. You know whats both great and terrible at the same time? The first party Switch Pro Controller. I mean, a $70 retail price? Come on! Third party controllers that resemble the official Pro Controller are much less. I look at three of them in this video and see if theyre worth getting.
Im not shilling for anyone so Im not providing links. Theyre all on Amazon if youre interested, youll find them on there with a quick and easy search. These came in through Amazon Vine which means I didnt pay up front, but the value of the controllers counts as income for the tax year, so its essentially the same as paying full price.
The companies dont know I reviewed them so obviously this was not reviewed by anyone before I posted it and all the opinions are my own. Which will be very apparent!

For best results view at 1080p 60fps. If I had to name one of the most underrated golden age arcade shooters - easy! Gyruss! Konamis tube shooter hit just around the time of the big video game crash of 1983 so that probably played a big role in it not getting the recognition it deserved. Heres my comparison of the arcade version of Gyruss vs the Commodore64 version.
What youll see in this video is some info on the game and youll see one complete gameplay loop (basically a longplay, lets play or lets compare) of both versions of the game side by side. After that Ill tell you a few little bonus pieces of info and well call it a day!
While Im reticent to mention personal things here, Ill just note that my sister passed away earlier this week so obviously work on the video stopped entirely for a few days. I couldnt travel for the services because, you know 2020. People from my state cant go to her state without quarantining first. Awesome.
