Solving Food the Waste Problem should be a HUGE priority for all of us. I don't think people understand how much food is sent to the landfill every day!! We recently joined an awesome program called LOOP, which works with grocery stores, to diverts damaged, or near expired food from the landfill to local farms. We rescued 18 boxes of produce, dairy, bread and meat from a dumpster and fed our chickens, dogs, cats and horses. It saves farms thousands of dollars in feed while diverting thousands of pounds of food from the landfill. We have been very impressed by how smoothly the program works and I hope that the idea can be duplicated everywhere! No food should ever go to waste!!
