Acts 15:36–41
What happens when faithful, Christ-loving brothers strongly disagree?
In Acts 15, we are brought into a real and weighty moment in the life of the early church. Paul and Barnabas share the same mission, the same gospel, and the same love for Christ—yet they come to a sharp disagreement that leads to separation.
This passage helps us think carefully about something every church must face:
Not all disagreement is the same.
Some disagreements must be overlooked in love.
Some must be carried with patience.
Some reshape how we labor together.
And some require separation for the sake of holiness.
Yet through it all, we see this clearly:
Christ is not hindered by conflict—He rules over it.
In this sermon, we will walk through four realities from the text:
A shared mission
A real disagreement
A sharp conflict
A sovereign expansion
And we will consider how the church today can navigate disagreement in a way that guards the mission, preserves unity, and honors Christ.
