Flight Termination Systems (FTS) are one of the most important safety systems in modern spaceflight—but they’re also one of the least understood. Is there really someone sitting at a console with a big red button? Do all rockets explode when terminated? What happens on reusable rockets like Falcon 9 or Starship?
