It’s about time to talk about how police brutality got to this point. It was a gradual process. I’m here to offer a historian’s perspective on these issues, because it is a long and tortuous path from early policing to the heavily militarized police we have today. Interestingly enough, a lot of that beginning has to do with demilitarization, and for the last half century, that hard line between policing and domestic usage of the Army has steadily eroded away
