The historical method imparts a particular way of thinking, and it's easy to remember the most significant values. They are the 5 Cs. Change over time is what makes a narrative. Context shows the larger picture. Causality is, well, the cause of anything. Contingency reveals that the story could've unfolded very differently. Finally there's complexity, which means there's always more nuance to find in history. Think about change over time, context, causality, contingency, and complexity and you'll think like a historian.
