In the Brazilian Amazon, one small riverside school is proving that climate adaptation doesn’t need to be complex to be powerful. 🌿🏫

For three years, this community school has taken on heatwaves, floods, and dangerous riverbank erosion — and kept children safe through smart, locally led solutions:
✔️ Stronger walls to withstand storms
✔️ Cooler roofs to beat extreme heat
✔️ Solar power and satellite internet
✔️ Clean water from a deep well

These simple upgrades are making a big impact — and inspiring others across the region.

During his visit, UNDRR’s chief, Kamal Kishore, described the school as “a guiding light”, showing what’s possible when communities lead on disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation.

🌎 When local knowledge and smart investment come together, resilience becomes real — and children can learn, grow, and thrive safely.

Discover how this Amazon school is shaping a safer future for its community and beyond.
