📊🌍 Climate shocks, conflict, displacement and fragile services overlap across South Sudan — and understanding where risk is highest is critical.

To support smarter decision-making, UNICEF, UNDRR and partners applied a rigorous, data-driven approach to analyse disaster risk across the country.

The INFORM Subnational Risk Model brings together 131 indicators across all 78 counties and the Abyei Administrative Area, revealing where hazards, vulnerabilities and coping capacity converge — and where action is most urgent.

• Eight counties face very high risk
• Severe flooding and drought combine with conflict exposure
• Deep socio-economic pressures limit coping capacity

Through UNICEF’s open-access GeoSight platform, decision-makers can visualise risk, compare layers, and identify priority areas for action — strengthening:
