Nightclub venues have been shut down since March 26 in Singapore due to COVID-19 restrictions. Instead of staying closed, some of these businesses that revolve around nightlife are looking at ways to adapt to the pandemic and transform their offerings during this “dry season.”

Zouk is arguably Singapore’s most famous nightlife venue. There haven’t been any parties on their massive dance floor due to restrictions, so Zouk has converted the space into a socially distanced spin studio. Meanwhile, the bar’s still open, but just for non-alcoholic drinks after a cycling workout!

But fitness isn’t the only way Zouk has pivoted during the pandemic. Four nights a week, an unconventional cinema club with food and (this time alcoholic) drinks is open for business at the nightclub.

In our series, PANDEMIC DISPATCHES, we examine how COVID-19 has changed the lives of Coconuts staff around the region, in ways large and small.
