Mark Carney was explaining his plan to stop the consumer-facing carbon tax and switch it to large industrial emitters. When CTV interviewer Todd Battis asked him if companies wouldn't just pass on the costs to consumers, Carney laughingly said "How much steel are you using, Todd?" So, our Communications Manager, Michelle Stirling, sat down in her kitchen to have a look at how much steel she is using in just ordinary, everyday things. Turns out, it's a LOT. Despite his many accomplishments as bank governor and the point man for putting together the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero and other organizations, Michelle says she doesn't think he knows what he is talking about when it comes to common sense on how things are made, what they cost and net zero implications.
