Scientists are unlikely to ever be able to reliably determine the number of Dinosaur species that inhabited our planet during the Mesozoic Era. According to various estimates, this figure ranges from 200 to 500 thousand species. But since the last Dinosaurs died out about 65 million years ago, the remains of mostly only the largest of them have survived to this day. It is believed that these giants made up only a few percent of the total. It is also possible that many finds are associated not with different species, but with Dinosaurs of the same type from different age groups. A few years ago, Norwegian researchers tried to systematize all the remains known at that time. They came to the conclusion that science has data on an average of about 2 thousand species of Dinosaurs.
