Just how many sheep are in Ireland? Well, we tried to count. Depending on where you visit, you might ask this same question. We certainly did as we traveled on a road trip for a couple weeks around the entire island. At some point a few years ago, it was estimated that there were more sheep in Ireland than there were people. We saw many types of sheep in Ireland, from Glencolumbkille and the Slieve League Cliffs in County Donegal, to Inishturk in County Mayo, or Rathlin Island in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. We are definitely not knowledgeable enough to tell you the difference between any of them. If you happen to be a sheep farmer and know the different varieties, please let us know in the comments below and we will update our description. If you aren't a sheep farmer and know the varieties, that's cool too, but how did you come to learn this information? Genuinely curious. Also, if you think we miscounted the sheep, we aren't going to lose sheep over it, but would love to hear your tallies in the comments.
This video is the first of a daily video series of our travels to Ireland and Northern Ireland in June of 2018. From walking the lush greenery in the rugged hills and glens, hiking the breathtaking cliffs and coastal mountains, exploring caves and crags and remote off-shore islands, to the castles and ruins and hallmarks of pre-neolithic civilizations, we can honestly say it was one of the best times we have ever had. And do you know what was the most beautiful about the Emerald Isle? The people. In the cities or the countryside, to the north and the south, in pubs, tea rooms or out during a walk. Some of the most warm, kind, affable (and usually very funny) people you will ever meet are in Ireland, and they'll be sure to fill you in on where all the good craic is.
