Magellan and Greyhound | Game of Thrones locations in real life | Ireland, Ep. 11 @MagellanandGreyhound | Uploaded August 2020 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
These real life Game of Thrones locations were all filmed in Northern Ireland and are not far from one another. From the eerie Dark Hedges to the hidden beauty of the Cushendun Caves, the rugged coastline of Ballintoy Harbour or the majestic cliffs towering over Downhill Beach, you can definitely see why the Game of Thrones creators had good taste. Our understanding is that commercial tour buses are available for some of these places, but if you are comfortable driving on the left side of the road in your own rental car, you can go off the beaten track and visit places like the Mussendun Temple near Downhill Beach (Dragonstone) or walk along Cushendun Beach near the caves. At your own leisure.
This video is the eleventh of a daily video series of our travels to Ireland and Northern Ireland in June of 2018. From walking the lush greenery in the rugged hills and glens, hiking the breathtaking cliffs and coastal mountains, exploring caves and crags and remote off-shore islands, to the castles and ruins and hallmarks of pre-neolithic civilizations, we can honestly say it was one of the best times we have ever had. And do you know what was the most beautiful about the Emerald Isle? The people. In the cities or the countryside, to the north and the south, in pubs, tea rooms or during a walk. Some of the most warm, kind, affable (and usually very funny) people you will ever meet are in Ireland, and they'll be sure to fill you in on where all the good craic is.
