An epic speedrun montage compilation of my 820 attempts of Zone 300 (a custom mapset for classic doom). The speedrun category was: UV Fast D2All (Ultra-Violence + fast monsters + all 32 maps without dying or saving/loading). This footage was recorded with "ghost" demos of all my failed attempts, alongside the successful demo recording. Each ghost demo loads a half-translucent green doomguy; the successful demo loads an opaque doomguy and the rest of the map assets.
So how many Doomguys can Doom load? 509. That's 508 ghost doomguys + the real one. 508 is the limit number of ghost files (.gst) that the current version of the dsda-doom sourceport can load at once. This means that I had to keep 312 attempts out of this footage due to this limitation. I excluded the ones that died in Map 01, which is hardly noticeable anyway. When I tried loading 509 or more ghost files, the game crashed. It is believed this is due to the operating system being limited in the number of file pointers that it can have open at once.
Anyway I hope you enjoy this montage as much as I enjoyed making it :) this is my official goodbye to Zone 300.
