Cyberbullying remains a pressing challenge, affecting 1 in 6 school-aged children across Europe. To address this, the @EuropeanCommission has adopted an evidence-based Action Plan against cyberbullying, developed through an extensive consultation with over 6,000 children and scientific research to achieve a common understanding and identify protective measures.
The Plan introduces concrete measures, including:
➡️ Updated educational tools for teachers,
➡️ A new online safety app for reporting abuse,
➡️ Stronger EU-wide coordination for safer digital spaces.
The Joint Research Centre has analysed major components of cyberbullying and how countries across the EU define and fight it, identifying key elements, risks and protective factors.
By integrating scientific research with policy, the EU is taking decisive action to safeguard children and empower communities, a clear example of what evidence-based collaboration can achieve.
