Can insulin resistance actually reverse some of the benefits of exercise?
This graph from one of my favorite exercise science papers shows something wild: after the same workout, insulin-sensitive and insulin-resistant people can have opposite gene expression patterns.
In some pathways, exercise pushes things in a “good” direction if you’re metabolically healthy… but in insulin-resistant people, those same pathways can move the other way.
Exercise is still beneficial overall for almost everyone, but this reminds us:
Your metabolic state shapes how your body responds to the same workout.
If you want the deeper breakdown, mechanisms, and how to improve insulin sensitivity so your body can fully benefit from training, check the full video and newsletter.
Stay curious.
