so for those of you who brought it to my attention this is not how one should build a half wall and why my video is titled how I made and installed a half wall. If you want something that is more accurate to what you should do go here youtu.be/qDc8ZLQtLxI . He is a little long winded for my taste, but the construction is solid enough to hold tile.
Now for those of you recommending woodprix that is not the point of this or other diy videos like it. woodprix is a paid site. I believe more in the freedom of information and empowering others to share their knowledge with others freely.
This is how I made and installed a half wall to replace my iron wrought fence that was not stable to be a better barrier in my home and be a more aesthetically pleasing replacement to the tacky iron work.

It would have been better if I had used lagged bolts instead of screws. and 12" on center.
