Welcome to Vlogstice Day 6! Today I'm talking about my Reclaiming origin story. That is, the story of how I ended up in the Reclaiming Tradition, as opposed to how I started practicing Witchcraft as a whole. Some people find Reclaiming first and that's the whole story! But I've been a practicing Pagan Witch for over 20 years, and a Reclaiming Witch for 10 years, so they are separate tales from my journey.
For anyone unfamiliar, just for clarity, I'm referring to a tradition called the Reclaiming Tradition of Witchcraft, not the general concept of "reclaiming" various things!
The books I mention are "The Spiral Dance" by Starhawk (1979, most recent edition 1999), and "The Twelve Wild Swans" by Starhawk and Hilary Valentine (2000).

Years ago, when I did a couple other videos about the intersection between Pagan and LGBTQ+ identities, someone asked me to talk about Transgender Pagans as the third video in that series. But since Im not a Transgender Pagan, I didnt think it was appropriate for me to speak on that topic, and I explain that thought process a bit more in this video. Ive been working with Madelyn this summer, and she decided to cover this basic topic over on her channel! You will find that video linked. I wanted to give the back story about being asked about this here in a video on my channel, and also give a few more thoughts from my position and perspective now, in 2021, now that Ive been part of a tradition and community and strives to be intersectional and inclusive for a few years now. I also have better vocabulary to express my support now than I would have years ago, even though I was always in support.
