The process for troubleshooting anything is just about the same and an FPV video system is no exception. You want to figure out what is working, what isnt working, figure out the failure mode (hard versus intermittent) test your hypothesis then perform some repairs. Following up you want to test your fix. In my case here the Fatshark camera wasn't easily recoverable but the goggles worked fine and now we have a fully functional FPV video system ready to fly some FPV racing, freestyle of just some fixed wing fun.
