Today's video showcases my all new audio room that is now finally complete. It took me two weeks of trial and error but what really worked for me are the things I put in to improve the sound, get rid of reflections and bring body and warmth vs cold and sterile sound.
When I first placed the speakers in with one smaller rug and some small panels the sound was bright, edgy and lean. I was shocked at how bad the system sounded but not really The room is indeed your #1 component and the room will dictate what your system sounds like, full stop.
If you get echo, brightness, ringing, flat sound, bright sound and no imaging your room needs to be treated. I like to do this naturally and with panels when I can.
Since the room sounded awful I had to get to work.
First I painted the ugly cold grey with a warm rich green. This did not make any changes to the sound, just the look of the space. Then I added a new cabinet:

Then I added some lights., fake plants and two carpets to soften the sound. Then I added sound panels to the room, which I bought from Amazon below:

The new chair. the new tables, the carpets, the panels and the plants did their job and now the sound is better than my old smaller room. Now I have tremendous bass, body and glow. I have superb detail with the biggest soundstage I have ever had.
Fix the room and this will fix the sound. Was a lot of trial and error but after 10-14 days it went from drab and sterile in looks and sound to warm, inviting and sounding as it should.
Total cost with paint. rugs. plants. tables. panels. etc? About $2k but well worth it.
