The 5 Day Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu is one of the hardest treks in the Cusco area, trekking for multiple days at 4000m elevation, sleeping in tents and with limited washing facilities.
It will put any beginner hiker on the edge of their limits and so I decided to finish off my 7 Months in Latin America by flying out my mum to put her through her paces and see if she could defeat this difficult trek to fulfil her bucket list dream of visiting Machu Picchu.
