How do grifters get us to keep falling for their scams and lies. Today I talk about one of the most powerful tools in the grifter's arsenal and why you should never be persuaded by it, and I use Liver King as a case in point.

**************FURTHER COMMENTARY**************

Regular viewers of this channel with be most familiar with the use and abuse of anecdotes from the carnivore and ex-vegan crowd, but this comes up all the time in the health/wellness sphere and it’s very difficult to resist even if you’re familiar with all the issues surrounding anecdotes.
It’s even pretty common for vegans to use anecdotes saying things like “I feel great,” “I built muscle,” “my grocery bill went down,” etc.

Relating personal stories is a fine strategy for putting a human face on things and doing a bit of a sanity check on the data, but make sure you always refer to some higher form of evidence (randomized controlled trials, meta-analysis, relevant expert consensus) in addition to the anecdote.

Also I’m aware Brian Johnson was into lifting well before this and had a solid base of muscle prior to becoming “Liver King”, and so not ALL of his progress can be attributed to PED use.

This video really isn’t meant to be an indictment of Liver King, but instead to be an exploration of how powerful, widespread, and misleading anecdotes are, especially for anyone with an internet connection and desire to change their body. Liver King is merely the vehicle to express those ideas as he’s a glaring contemporary example.
