God was still a mystery to Moses when He revealed Himself as “I AM” in Exodus 3. God continued to reveal Himself throughout the Old Testament in the names that people added on to “I AM” as they discovered more about His nature. All of these names were a progressive revelation because no one was able to take it all in at once. The same is true for learning about who God is today.
