David W. Guion was Texas' greatest songwriter. He was an accomplished arranger of western American folk tunes, most notably 'Home on the Range', 'The Arkansas Traveler', and 'Turkey in the Straw.' He was also a gifted composer in many genres such as ragtime ('Texas Fox Trot'), jazz ('Rag Crazy'), and spiritual hymns ('Prayer').

An obscure French Christmas recording from 100 years ago.
In the Catholic Church, we celebrate Christmas until the Baptism of the Lord, which this year takes place on January 12th. So I will keep posting Christmas videos until then.

Kerry Mills, composer of the hit cakewalk, At a Georgia Campmeeting, and other songs like ‘Meet Me in St. Louis’, ‘Rastus on Parade’, and ‘Happy Days in Dixie’, was an accomplished composer of the 1890s and early 1900s. Though his career continued into the 1910s and 20s, those songs are mysteriously obscure.
