U.S. Attorney General A. Mitchell Palmer gives a speech on the role of President Woodrow Wilson and the Democratic party in winning the Great War months after the armistice.
108 years ago today, the United States of America entered World War I, when the Zimmermann Telegram was intercepted on its way to Mexico from the German Empire, which tried to get Mexico to join the Central Powers in exchange for the lost territories they lost in the Mexican-American War of 1846-1848. This enraged the American populace.
Palmer is known for his namesake raids by the Department of Justice which deported 6,000 suspected communists and anarchists out of the country during the Red Scare of 1919-1920.

A song from the musical, The Fascinating Widow, with music by Kerry Mills and words by E. Ray Goetz. It featured famous actor of the time, Julian Eltinge, who was well-known for his drag performances.
Kerry Mills, composer of the hit cakewalk, At a Georgia Campmeeting, and other songs like ‘Meet Me in St. Louis’, ‘Rastus on Parade’, and ‘Happy Days in Dixie’, was an accomplished composer of the 1890s and early 1900s. Though his career continued into the 1910s and 20s, those songs are mysteriously obscure.

A paschal piece by William Henry Tyers, recorded in 1916 or 1917. The Domino Band didnt have many recordings, but it seems they preferred salon waltzes like this one. Erroneously, his name is spelled Tyres.
Will H. Tyers (1870-1924) was a famous arranger who gained prominence for his intermezzos and pacific island dances (Maori), (Panama) , as well as his arrangements of famous tunes such as Scott Joplins The Sycamore and Tom Turpins Harlem Rag.
