After school, many kids do almost nothing except sit at home on screens. They spend little time playing sports, working, volunteering, hanging out with friends, or even sleeping. How can we encourage young people to lead more active, enriching lives?
In this web event, Mike Goldstein will present on the Center for Teen Flourishing, a research and development lab that studies this question. He will be joined by literacy expert and essayist Larissa Phillips, who runs a farm camp for children growing up in the city, and Stacey Ryan, president of School of Rock, an international network of music schools that serves more than 70,000 students. In a panel moderated by AEI’s Robert Pondiscio, these educators will discuss how to fill kids’ lives with more engaging, screen-free activities.
