There’s nothing new about vice, but the internet and smartphones have made it more accessible than ever before. As online gambling becomes ubiquitous and streaming pornography becomes de facto sex education, researchers are finding that these “online vices” disproportionately affect men. Despite concerns raised by experts and legislators, the companies driving these new vices are forging ahead with seemingly little regard for those who might be harmed. Should these new vices be regulated? Why are young men so seriously affected?
