At 72, Lenny Santoro is living proof of the power of NIH-funded research. After being diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer in 2011, he participated in two clinical trials at the Duke Cancer Institute—the second one proving to be a life-changing success. Now cancer-free, Lenny is dedicated to advocating for research funding, even testifying before the FDA to help approve the drug that saved his life.
