I'm hugely excited to be taking part in these Extinction Rebellion events, and I'd ask everyone involved to remember one simple truth throughout: We Are All Crew.

Having helped launch XR back in the day, and now as a Co-director of the Climate Majority Project, my aim is to bring the widest possible range of people into climate action. I'm delighted to see XR throwing its full weight behind a demand that everyone in this country, and arguably everyone around the world, has a stake in... insisting that the two UK government fully release the reports that tell us how much trouble we're in. With an El Niño and worse on the way, the question is obvious: how can we possibly prepare for what's coming if we're not allowed to know what we're preparing for?

It is my considered opinion that it is absolutely imperative we keep ratcheting up the pressure on the UK Government to release, in full, the National Security Assessment on Biodiversity Loss, Ecosystem Collapse and National Security. The word "collapse" is in the title, and what little has surfaced tells us the authors, who include our own intelligence services, conclude that every global ecosystem is on a pathway to collapse, and that Britain's extreme lack of food resilience is a particular concern. That's not enough. We need the whole thing published, along with the companion report on the vulnerability of our critical national systems. This was supposed to be a new regime, a better one. So, Prime Minister Burnham: fess up. Tell us what's in those reports, so we can start to prepare together.
