How Beautiful We Were by Imbolo MBue is simply the greatest book that I have read all year! It does what pictures cannot - it tells the story of what it is like to not have access to clean water. This video also shows footage of a real African village struggling with an American oil company. You can see the rainbow streaks of oil in the water, and the entire field of trees that are uprooted because of the contaminated water supply. There is an organization in Troy, Michigan that does drill wells in Kenya called Hope Water Project if you want to check it out.
