Can Anxiety Keep You Sick?

In this clip from a recent Wellness Wednesday coaching session, I explain one of the most overlooked barriers to healing: chronic anxiety.

Many people think stress is "just emotional," but chronic anxiety creates real biological changes that can affect your immune system and your ability to recover.

In this video, I discuss:

• How chronic stress can lead to cortisol resistance, making your body's natural anti-inflammatory system less effective.
• Why an overactive immune system continues producing inflammatory cytokines that can damage healthy tissues.
• How chronic anxiety may contribute to autoimmune disease activity and prolonged inflammation.
• Why living in constant "fight or flight" prevents your body from entering the "rest and digest" state where healing and repair occur.
• The connection between chronic inflammation and diseases such as autoimmune conditions and cancer.

This is one of the reasons my approach to recovery has always gone beyond nutrition alone. Hyper-nourishment gives your body the raw materials it needs to heal, but learning to calm your nervous system, process stress, and create more joy is also an important part of recovery.

If you'd like to learn my complete protocol, my online class, 6 Steps to Reversing Disease with Supermarket Foods, is FREE through August 10 at GoodbyeLupus.com.
