While House of the Dragon has formally accepted Aegon's dream into the TV series canon, it still leaves George Martin with a huge riddle that the show will never be able to solve.
Although Martin's Fire and Blood novel doesn't reference Aegon the Conqueror's Song of Ice and Fire dream directly, the author had a conversation with the showrunner of House of the Dragon about the prophecy.
In the first episode of House of the Dragon, King Aegon the first’s dream was validated and clarified, indicating he anticipated the necessity of a Targaryen occupying the Iron Throne to bring the realm together in opposition to the icy and sinister White Walkers.
