King Rose Archives | How 1960s Innovations in Technology Modernized Our World: for Better or Worse @KingRoseArchives | Uploaded October 2023 | Updated October 2024, 3 hours ago.
In 1964, Frigidaire, a Division of General Motors (GM) produced a promotional-short for the 1964 World's Fair titled, "Out of this World." This short video gives a sneak peek into the technology of the future and how it will make our lives easier and better. This propaganda-style short starts with a group of special guests about to embark on a trip to the envisioned future or "World of Tomorrow." Globally, some of the ideas for the Earth back then did not seem to take into consideration the unintended consequences of "progress."
On a more individual, private note of home life, come join this 1960s exhibit of all of the modern amenities for the kitchen. Apparently the woman in the film was so thrilled with all of the modern upgrades that she danced around her appliances. Technology seemed to be the answer to all of a family's problems, at least in theory.
Knowing what we know now about the world's natural resources and technology, would we do anything different?
