I know. I know. This is far from the usual stuff I edit.
But.. for some reason I always assimilated this song to mothering in House of the Dragon and how it fits both different ways of raising children. The lyrics, to me, suits both of them for completely opposite reasons, like they're two sides of a coin.
One is the perfect mothering, Rhaenyra raising her children all in tenderness, lying to them for the better good, not to hurt their feelings and trying not to transfer her negative emotions on her sons; wihle the other is the toxic mothering. Alicent.
The one that tells the hard truth to the kids rather than sugarcoating it, the control freak mother, the cold mother who can't even hug and comfort her weeping son, the one who has favorites, the trauma bond, the repeating cycle of toxic parenting passing from Otto Hightower onto Alicen'ts children.
Yet, despite both characters being controversial parents, their love for their children is unmatched and so tangible in everything they do, though it may be harder to see on Alicen'ts side.
I'm such a fan of Mitski's songs, they're just so unique, peculiar, and different from what we can find in the music industry today. I just thought this was the perfect combination, there is something so profoundly sad in that song. I couldn't tell if it's the lyrics, the pain and sweetness in the singing, or both. I chose the live version rather than the album one, I prefered the slow pace and the soft singing to go with the theme of this video.

Since Victoria & Albert is a ship we both love, well, I couldnt resist using your birthday as a pretext to edit them again, after I had a sudden beacon of inspiration, as usual, coming from god knows where.

Second, this song has been in my mind for centuries and using it in one of my video was another of one my goals, though I couldnt choose whom I would associate it with at the beginning.
At first, it was supposed to be about Matthew and Mary from Downton Abbey, then another ship, and another.. until it ended up being used for Victoria & Albert.
But then I realised this song fits any ship so using Vicbert is as much fun as if it would have been with something else.
I hope you like it, because I personally do; which surprises me because I was never really satisfied with any of my victoria edits until now.

So today is our Secret Santa reveal in our collab group and I was picked to edit a video for the exquisite @kimikofer.
I know she loves Daenerys so much, as do I, and she was on top on her wish list so there wasn’t a better idea for this year’s SS.
As for the editing, I wanted something simple but still with enough rhythm. Though I hardly ever completely like the finish product, I hope you like it!
Joyeux Nöel la belle, j’espère que ce petit cadeau te plaira et que tu passes de bonnes fêtes, je sais que tu adores Daenerys, c’est l’un de mes personnages préférés de tous les temps alors l’inspiration n’a pas été un problème, c’est fait avec plaisir. Another May 19th, another tribute.
Ive wanted to update this channel with a new Anne Boleyn fanvid but Ive been quite unable to, as my part-time work that becomes full-time in the summer and uni take most of my time. And I finished finals on the day of her execution, so I didnt have enough time to finish this on the exact day. But Ill try to make more in the future, as it was basically the initial focus & topic of my channel.
Im still devastated about her fate, shell always be my first and favorite historical person, my daily inspiration, the woman I feel connected with; and Ill always defend her with all I have. This video is just another love letter from me to this admirable queen in her defense. To me, this song is a perfect metaphor of Annes tragic life as wife of Henry VIII, and I thought about editing it to Anne from the first time I listened to it.
Rest in peace Anne.
