LUDINGTON — House of Flavors Restaurant is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. As part of its celebration, a new art installment on the floor of the restaurant’s cone room was unveiled today. The installment was created by local artist Cameron Wroble. It celebrates the history of the restaurant and also acknowledges the City of Ludington’s sesquicentennial, which also takes place this year.
Restaurant owner Barry Neal, who is the third generation of Neals to own the restaurant, hinted that he is currently in contact with Guinness Book of World Records to attempt a new world record this year. In 2016, House of Flavors broke the world record for world’s longest frozen dessert. That record was quickly broken by another ice cream restaurant in Nashville, Michigan.
House of Flavors began in 1948 as Park Dairy under the ownership of the late Bob Neal, Sr. However, the business made ice cream as Miller Dairy since 1935. Since that time, it has been in the care of Bob Neal, Jr. and his wife, Kay, Bob’s son son, Barry Neal and wife, Cindy, along with Barry and Cindy’s daughter Madison Cota and her husband, Mike. Occasionally, Mike and Madison’s son, Everett, can be seen entertaining customers.
