You’ve heard it before:

→“Warm it up and it’ll soak deeper.”
But what if… that’s not true?
In this B4WMT (#13) experiment, I tested hot vs cold Danish Oil across three hardwoods—oak, maple, and cherry. No guessing. Just weights, calipers, and a crosscut that reveals the truth beneath the surface.
I wanted to know if heat helps—or hurts—a finish’s ability to penetrate. And whether the long-standing tradition of rubbing it in still holds up with modern, dryer-infused oils.
The results?Well… let’s just say I didn’t expect what I found.
