Is Jesus just a copycat of Horus? Watch and find out.
I play the role of a Jesus Mythicist and my girlfriend plays the role of a Christian.
We look at the claims that
Horus' mother was named Meri.
Horus was born of a virgin.
Horus' father was seb, aka Joseph.
Horus was born in a cave/manger.
Horus' birth was announced by angels.
Horus' birth was preceded by a star in the east and attended by 3 wisemen.
Horus was born on relatively the same day as Jesus.
Herut tried to have Horus murdered as a child.
Horus was baptized by Anup the baptizer, who was later beheaded.
Horus had 12 disciples.
Horus walked on water.
Horus raised El Osiris from the dead.
Horus was crucified between to thieves and then resurrected.
Some people continue to argue that Isis was a virgin. The argument was "The Pyramid Texts speak of the great virgin (Hwn.t wr.t) three times (682c, 728a, 2002a, cf. 809c)"
My evidence countering that claim:
The pyramid texts call Isis a damsel, not a virgin (The Pyramid Texts, in Translation and Commentary, p362)

"I am Isis... O girl! You will give birth, being pregnant for the gods, seeing that he is the seed of Osiris."

"After having sexual intercourse...she gave birth to a posthumous son, Horus"
(Gods and Men in Egypt, p. 39)
"revivified the sexual member of Osiris and became pregnant by him" (Complete gods and goddesses of Ancient Egypt, p. 146)
"she has to revive the sexual powers of Osiris" (Handbook of Egyptian Mythology, p. 80)
"hovering above Osiris, who is revived enough to have an erection and impregnate his wife." (Great Goddesses of Egypt, p. 162)
