Testeverything521 | Contra Theoreticalbullshit: A Thought Experiment @Testeverything521 | Uploaded 14 years ago | Updated 2 hours ago
The Euthyphro dilemma (although I think it ultimately is a false dilemma) demonstrates that God's arbitrary commands cannot be a foundation of objective morality. If an arbitrary objective morality based on God's commands was possible, then the Euthyphro dilemma would not be a refutation to the moral argument in any way.
I attempt to demonstrate how arguing for the Euthyphro dilemma while proposing a thought experiment which requires the existence of an arbitrary objective morality leads to a self-refuting and incoherent thought experiment.
He talks about how objective morality cannot exist based on God's commands.. What if God declared something like causing unfathomable pain and suffering to be moral? (Euthyphro dilemma)
Then he asks us to consider a world in which it is objectively moral to cause unfathomable pain and suffering. (thought experiment)
Since he advocates both the Euthyphro dilemma and his thought experiment simultaneously, He is arguing both that objective morality is arbitrary and cannot be arbitrary.
As always, feel free to start up a discussion. If you would like to make a video response, I can give you a copy of my script to make responding easier.
