EDIT: ON SEPTEMBER 5, 2020, THE VALLEY FIRE BROKE OUT, AND ULTIMATELY BURNED OVER 16,000 ACRES. WHILE THE RESPONDING FIRE AGENCIES DID A GREAT JOB IN ADDRESSING THE FIRE, THIS AREA WAS WITHIN THE BURN ZONE AND IS NOW GONE AS PICTURED IN THE VIDEO. AS OF NOVEMBER 2020, THE TRAIL REMAINS CLOSED.

One of San Diego's most scenic hikes is along the Espinosa Trail to Horsethief Canyon in the Pine Creek Wilderness. Over the course of 3.6 miles roundtrip, the trail descends into a canyon once used by horse smugglers before stopping at a seasonal pool of water and waterfalls formed by Pine Creek.
