"COVID MUST BE AN ANSWER TO THEIR PRAYERS [NURSES] BECAUSE THERE'S NOBODY CHECKING UP ON THEM NOW"
Families of elderly patients have been coming forward with their stories of shocking neglect and brutal treatment of older people in hospital care.
đ´ Elderly lady left "hanging on a hoist" with her lower body exposed to all. Her face bruised from rubbing against strap.
đ´ Patient told by nurse he was "disgusting" after soiling himself, despite having called repeatedly for assistance. The nurse "dragged him down the corridor and hosed him down like a dog."
đ´ Elderly "screaming for attention and receiving none."
đ´ Hospital staff "sitting around enjoying the craic". "On their computers reading MunsterFans, Facebook and some playing Solitaire."
đ´ Staff are all "at the desk, talking, having a chat." "Covid must be an answer to their prayers because there's nobody checking up on them now."
đ´ Elderly patient tells his daughter "if I had a gun I'd shoot myself."
đ´ Bedpans left on tables where food was served.
đ´ "Excrement all over the [toilet] cubicles, on the seats, in the toilets, on the walls and on the floor."
These shocking stories are confirmation of all we have been saying for the past five months. The elderly have been abandoned by the State, and hundreds have lost their lives. We reiterate that An Garda SĂochĂĄna, not the HSE, must investigate criminal abuse and neglect in hospitals and nursing homes.
