Horizon Forbidden West is an outstanding game, but like it's predecessor, it was overshadowed at release by a genre-defining take on open world games. It was Breath of the Wild in 2017, and now, 5 years later, it's Elden Ring. Both of those games are fantastic in their own right, but Forbidden West does not deserve to be overlooked. In this critique, I break down the world building, questing, combat, story, and presentation of this latest Guerilla title sharing both the positives and negatives of this notable achievement.
