For me, the most interesting thing about the US presidential election of 2024 was what was left UNSAID- the topics that weren't meaningfully discussed by either side. Trump and Harris framed themselves as opposites, and in many ways they are. But past the hollow rhetoric and identity politics, I think they offered something very similar, but with vastly different packaging: the hope, the fantasy, of a future that cannot exist.
