Each year, when conditions are just right, Australia’s largest living icon bursts into new life in one of the greatest shows on the planet: coral spawning.
So what is coral spawning and why is coral spawning important?
“Hope Is Alive on the Reef”, is a special webinar celebrating coral spawning season – the magical moment that fuels our restoration work and inspires hope for the Reef’s future.
Hosted by Sarah Ireland, the Great Barrier Reef Foundation’s Chief of Communications and Growth, this webinar takes you behind the scenes of world-leading coral restoration research in action. We will hear from marine biologists Johnny Gaskell and Petra Lundgren, from our coral restoration team, about why coral spawning is such a critical time for reef recovery, and how the Foundation is harnessing this moment to test new solutions for reef restoration.
