A simple Hoof Hack that will make life for the hobby DIYer a bit easier if they happen to have neighbours who are intolerant of noise: one Little B*****d, some old man who lived in the flat under the Hoofbag when in London, wouldn't allow any home improvements or speaker cabinet construction without screaming in protest, especially during his prayers. In our 'silent anvil' an item to be nailed is placed upon a paving stone that provides downward inertia for the work piece. The paving stone is placed upon a piece of foam or cushion. This isolates the noise vibration from the floor. The Hoofbag build one before, and the foam was glued onto the paving stone. There was also a carry handle. Unfortunately, frequent use meant that the paving stone eventually cracked. A stronger paving stone could be selected, however. With fine tuning, the device could be developed into a saleable gadget for the home DIYer: The work surface could be made from 10mm mild steel and firmer insulating foam could be included for better stability. The Hoofbag has been a woodwork hobbyist living in a flat with intolerant, aggressive neighbours and this situation can easily put a person on edge.
