What a great first day I had in Hong Kong exploring Lantau Island by riding the Ngnong Ping 360 Cable Car in a Crystal Cabin to visit the Tian Tan Buddha (Big Buddha) and Po Lin Monastery before catching a bus to Tai O Fishing for a boat ride to see the Dolphins.
I start the day travelling from Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel by MTR Train to first to Sunny Bay and then to Tung Chung where I catch the Ngnong Ping 360 Cable Car to Ngong Ping Village.
I use the Klook VIP Lane at Ngong Ping 360 to jump the lines and board my Crystal Cabin. The journey takes about 25 minutes and I have great views of the area including the bridge that links Hong Kong to Macau.
When I arrive at Ngong Pig 360 village I walk past all the shops and head straight to the Tian Tan Buddha. To reach the Big Buddha I needed to climb 268 steps before arriving at the top.After walking around and even going inside the Big Buddha I head to Po Lin Monastery which is next to the base of the stair case leading to the Buddha.
Po Lin Monastery was full of people burning insense and the main temple houses three bronze statues of the Buddha – representing his past, present and future lives – as well as many Buddhist scriptures.
I then travelled by bus to Tai O Fishing village to go on a boat tour out to see, it lasted about 30 minutes and we briefly spotted some dolphins. I then spent about an hour walking around Tai O Village and got myself a doughnut for a snack.
I got the bus back to Ngnong Ping Village and returned on the Ngnong Ping cable car in a crystal cabin to Tung Chung. Here I went to the CityGate Outlets Mall for my dinner before returning back to the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel by MTR Train.
At Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel I go for a swim and then have a full tour of the hotel.
