The arena is exposed to a thermal gradient with the coldest spot (32° C, 89,6 °F) at the right side. In this video, the thermal gradient is visualized by the false color representation overlay with yellow representing the preferred temperature. The group's ability to find the optimum and stay there is a remarkable effect of SWARM INTELLIGENCE, as single individuals are usually unable to succeed in this task.
